Renowned for their work on the beautifully chaotic Guilty Gear games, Arc System Works were unveiled at E3 last month to be finally working their magic on the Dragon Ball franchise.
Announcing Dragon Ball Fighterz at the very same event, the side-scrolling 3D brawler began to make waves by incorporating the flashy visuals of their past games. Rather than another full 3D fighter that's been done to death with the Akira Toriyama's long-running series already, it seems to finally be returning to the roots from the SNES/PS1 eras.
With a release date set for early next year, E3 didn't give the players enough information. How could it? While the roster slowly fills out, it was at this year's EVO fighting game tournament that BANDAI NAMCO decided to tempt the players a little more - with the official unveiling of Future Trunks as a playable character complete with his famous sword.
Want To See The Complete Roster So Far? Here's What We Know
Though we've known about Future Trunks' inclusion for a little while already, the EVO reveal brought about some actual in-game footage rather than the blurry screenshot that came before. Of course, he's taking on Freiza throughout most of the clip; a short-lived battle that gave Future Trunks an impressive debut in the official series.
Dragon Ball Fighterz arrives on both console and PC early next year, but if you have a PS4 or Xbox One handy, you can sign up the Dragon Ball Fighterz beta starting July 26.
