Better late than never, Firaxis has started to briefly outline their plans for mod support within Sid Meier's Civilization VI. Arguable more important, however, is the news of the upcoming Australian Summer update.
Modding support has long been teased and highly requested since the launch of Civilization VI toward the end of last year, but with the game simply receiving smaller DLC packs and occasional bug fixes, mod support rightfully took a back seat for a little while.
On its way "soon", the company didn't delve into many of the intricate details of how exactly mod support will play out, by they did make sure to say that it should ultimately "make it easier for artists and modders to express their creativity within the game". Steam Workshop support will be available for those looking to share whatever creations they manage to conjure up within the included functionality, but the system will likely just make it easier for players to browse and install these third-party add-ons.
Sid Meier's Civilization Series Crosses Tiles To Make It Into The Latest Humble Bundle
As for the impending official add-ons, Australia will soon become a playable civilization headed by John Curtin - the country's Prime Minister in the height of World War II between 1941-1945. You like Diggers? That's what they'll be bringing to the table. And not the classic industrial construction machine favored by toddlers. They're big fans of blasting down the enemy near coastal tiles.
The best part, however? We're finally getting true co-op support! Strangely absent at launch, players will finally be able to team up with their friends and to take on both AI and player-controlled oppositions. Need a copy? It's a lot cheaper through CDKeys for those within the right territories.
