If you were one of the fans to make Dark Souls III the fastest-selling entry in the whole series, there's a little something coming your way to claw you back to its punishing world. You're taking a trip to The Ringed City.
It's lived a long and happy life, but all good things must come to an end. With Bloodborne likely enticing players over to the parent series, Dark Souls III broke records - so it's no surprise to see Bandai Namco still pushing out the updates. But 'The Ringed City' with be the last. Until we see what else FromSoftware is cooking up to kill its audience.
Coming in as the second main expansion to Dark Souls III, The Ringed City takes over from Ashes of Adiandel. Though still over two months away from its March 28 release, we'll likely be hearing more about it in the run-up to the big day. For now, here's what we know.
The Ringed City expansion has our intrepid hero venturing off in chase of Slave Knight Gael. Searching for the Dark Soul of Humanity, his expedition will lead him to the literal end of the world. With the end of the Age of Fire upon them, players are cast into the heart of the Earth to square up against echoes of its past on the way to the fabled Ringed City.
So expect the usual amount of breathtaking environment crafting, new weapons, armour, magic and a lot of new punishing beasts ready to tear you limb from limb. It wouldn't be Dark Souls without any of those. With both expansions coming in at $14.99, the $24.99 season pass is still the cheapest way to pick up the brunt of Dark Souls III post-release content.
