A new real time strategy game from the makers of medieval RTS Avalon Lords is now in production, combining traditional RTS staples with "God Game" mechanics.
Named Ascendandy, the title sees civilizations representatives of the major elemental gods battle for supremacy.
Ambitious MMORTS Avalon Lords seeking funds on Kickstarter
Aside from classic RTS mechanics such as collecting resources, building bases, and producing troops, Ascendancy's differing feature comes in the form of godly abilities named "Manifest Powers". Those special skills are based off the four main elements -- Air, Water, Earth, and Fire -- and can be used at anytime for a resource cost.
On a more personal level, players can level up special hero characters or capture neutral giant creatures called Incarnates whom roam the land. There are also several kinds of standard troops from which to assemble your army, including melee/ranged, scouts, siege, flying, healing, and carrier units.
The game is unfortunately PvP focused, aiming for quick matches about 20-30 minutes of play -- apparently, the indie studio learned nothing from the failure of SEGA's Dawn of War III.
Ascendancy has no release date, but it is projected for 2018. You can follow its progress on its official website.
