As if out of nowhere, Arkane Studios' Prey was just given a release date. And it's coming somewhat sooner than we expected.
It isn't following in the footsteps of some recent announcements to be coming out in the next month or two, but May 5 is when we'll find ourselves on the Talos I ready to become just about anything we can set our sights on.
The release date was slowly revealed during the second 2-minute long gameplay trailer that arrived with no warning last night. Though still without a price, you can bet pre-orders are already live. You may be the first human augmented with the powers of the game's bizarre alien species, but you still enjoy a classic firearm; so a pre-order will net you;
- 'Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack'
- Yu family's heirloom Margrave shotgun
- 3 Neuromods
- 2 Medkits
- A 'Fabricator' plan for more Shotgun ammo
- A crafting starter kit
- A 'unique upgrade' to keep you from running out of resources too quickly

The PC Release Of Prey Should Be "Really Flawless" Says The Game's Creative Director
"When you awaken aboard Talos I, an immense space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032, you find yourself as the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever—but things have gone terribly wrong..." said Bethesda. "The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station, your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities to defeat the Typhon alien."
So with a release date set and pre-orders live over here, you can bet their website is full of information and a sizable collection of footage to get you all hot under the collar. Looking forward to it?
