We don't write about every single GTA mod that comes along, but when an incredibly ambitious and exciting one gets shown off we'll be there on the front lines to champion it. Most never get finished, but we hope that's not the case with Grand Theft Auto Space, a mod that takes the already large play area of Grand Theft Auto 5 and blows it up to encompass everything beyond the Earth. There's a trailer below that shows just how insanely cool that is.

Here's our review for Grand Theft Auto 5, which gave it one of our few Perfect 10 scores!
Grand Theft Space aims to allow players to blast off into space, explore and land on planets in and outside the solar system, and fight with hostile aliens. It is in short what all the players who have been analyzing everything Rockstar have been doing with aliens and UFOs have ever wanted. It's certainly everything _we_ wanted.
The incredible-looking mod which can be discussed here is the work of modder Sollaholla, along with the help of modders Shaezbreizh, AHK1221, Unknown Modder, Pantyshot, JRod, SkylineGTRFreak, KAFAROS, and TheMadBreaker, which sound a like a bad comic book hero's rogues gallery. Still, their work is already looking very good despite the big fat warning that the mod is very much a WORK IN PROGRESS.
The mod is aiming to include 4 new missions, variable gravity depending on scene including the ability to float in space, and a lot more.
The story goes as follows:
""The earth has been alone in this galaxy since the very moment it was formed, but far far away in another galaxy, there was intelligent life peering at the people of earth for a millennium. This life was not the friendly life we would like to believe. The NASA research team have found remnants of alien spaceship parts scattered around the state of San Andreas. We never thought that these intelligent life-forms would ever reach our planet; but they're coming and they're not on our side. It's your mission to take out these alien scum before they reach earth."
It certainly looks amazing from the trailer below, but time will tell if it actually comes out or not. Let's hope it does but it looks incredibly exciting. Certainly more so than No Man's Sky, anyway.
