Team 17 and developer Mouldy Toof have revealed the space prison USS Anomaly in a new trailer for The Escapists 2, which you can see below. Up until now the prisons in both Escapists games have been grounded, so this breaks new sci-fi territory for the sandbox prison break sim.

Here's our review of the first game! We liked it, for sure.
Described as "the ultimate test of escaping prowess", presumably because the only way to escape is to make it to a shuttle and not get shot down. The USS Anomaly will introduce robot guards, robot dogs, and seemingly a psychotic AI warden modelled after H.A.L. from 2001, and was designed as the solution to Earth's overcrowded prison problem. Er, yeah.
The trailer seems to show the ability to mess with the AI, grow your own food, float around in a spacesuit, jam in a space band, exercise to feed power to the AI, fight other inmates with electric gloves, and of course the wonderful jetpacks. Oh, and references to every sci-fi movie ever made, including 2001 and Aliens.
The Escapists 2 is the sequel to 2015's excellent prison break sim (not to be confused with Introversion's Prison Architect, which is about building a prison rather than escaping it). In addition to the first space prison the sequel will also be introducing 4-player multiplayer for drop-in/drop-out local and online co-op, which should be excellent.
The Escapists 2 will launch on August 22 and anyone who pre-orders will get 'The Glorious Regime' DLC, a jungle compound filled with loyal guards, for free.
