Surviving Mars, Paradox Interactive and Haemimont Games' latest strategy title, is out on March 15th, and there's a new developer diary video to commemorate the approaching launch.
In the video above, the developers talk about the technology in the game, from the real-life inspirations behind rockets, extractors, and drones, to more fictitious elements like huge glass domes and anomalies.
Haemimont Games has put special focus on the survival aspect of resource management, such as scanning for nodes, deposit scarcity, and transportation problems. As each resource is unique, they each bring their own logistic problems: water towers may freeze, metal deposits run dry, and electronics that are not repaired may stop functioning.
The dev team also comments on the game's harsh conditions and unique mix of survival and city building, where you must use the tools at your disposal to survive in a very inhospitable environment. Colonists can also create families and have children, which is the key for a successful permanent colony.
Surviving Mars will be released on March 15th, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
