Hunting is a major activity in Far Cry 5, being a means of making money, and is more than once weaved into the game’s various missions. As you traverse the game world, you’ll find yourself face to face with some nasty animals who fancy you their next meal, so you’ll be encountering the mechanic even when you’re not looking to hunt.
One particular mission, Clinical Study, tasks you with acquiring three undamaged Grizzly skins, and if you don’t know where to look for these animals, things might get frustrating as they don’t just spawn anywhere. As one of the rarest animals in Far Cry 5, Grizzlies are only encountered in specific locations, and in order to get an undamaged skin, you can’t use especially destructive weapons - limiting you to snipers.
Your best bet to find Grizzlies is in several locations in Holland Valley and Whitetail Mountains. In Holland Valley, two good spawn spots are off to the westernmost side of the map. On the eastern bank of the Deadman’s River, you can find one spawn point where the river takes a turn, and another in-line with the Crop Circle.
The spawn locations in the Whitetail Mountains are more numerous, with four areas being the safest bets. You’ll find two near lookout towers, one just east of the Haskell tower and another a tad north from the Jefferson tower, while the other two spawn spots are just across the lake from Cooper Cabin and a bit west of the North Park Entrance. Usually, Grizzlies spawn solo, so once you’ve hunted down a bear in a location, it’s best to move on to another, then come back sometime later.
