Kalypso have revealed the first gameplay trailer for Shadows: Awakening, the second part of the Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms story and the third game in the Heretic Kingdoms series.
The video, which you can see below, shows off the various different monsters and their different abilities that main character The Devourer can control and use.

As the Devourer, players have the ability to "absorb the memories and personalities of acquired souls and materialize them as their puppets in the world of mortals", which is what you can see going on in the video. This leads to a number of puzzles and unique gameplay scenarios in this action-RPG.
Possibly the most interesting thing about Shadows: Awakening is that it will be free to owners of the previous game. Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms was promised as two "Books" back when the first game released in 2014, and Kalypso are honoring that promise for anyone who owns the game on GOG or Steam. Likewise, anyone who buys Awakening will get the first Shadows game for free.
Shadows: Awakening will be released in Summer 2018.
