Paradox Interactive have announced that Battletech has a release date of April 2018. The new turn-based strategy from series creator Jordan Weisman and Harebrained Schemes, the developers of the Shadowrun trilogy, was previously only down for a vague "Early 2018", so it's great that the release window has been narrowed down to just a month from now.
To celebrate HBS and Paradox have opened pre-orders for the game and released a new video focusing on the combat of the game.
Hands-on Impressions with the single-player campaign of Battletech, with exclusive gameplay!</b>
Jordan Weisman, the CEO of HBS and creator of Battletech, had this to say:
"BATTLETECH has been a passion project for our team and for the fans who helped to make it a reality. We have done our very best to deliver a tactical `Mech experience that will delight long-time fans and excite new players who have yet to enter the MechWarrior universe. We know players are anxious to get their hands on the final game, and HBS joins Paradox in our excitement to deliver this April."
We played the single-player campaign recently (you can even see our gameplay footage there) and loved it, calling it "Firefly meets XCOM, with Mechs" and "we were excited about Battletech before – now it’s a potential Game of the Year 2018 contender". We stand by that, and we can't wait for April.
You can pre-order Battletech on Steam or the Paradox Plaza. There's also a slightly more expensive Digital Deluxe edition that comes with a few extra fun but non-essential goodies, like the soundtrack.
