Are you looking for a new horror-focused multiplayer game? There certainly aren't too many of them around, so the recent release of Fight the Horror might be exactly what you're after. It's a survival horror for up to 9 players, with puzzles to solve and monsters to face.
Fight the Horror is out now on Steam and it's 20% off this weekend, and here's a list of 5 reasons why you might want to check it out.
1. Terrifying Multiplayer
Truly scary survival horror multiplayer games are still pretty thin on the ground, and the ones which are around tend to focus more on action than a true horror scenario. In Fight the Horror you're vulnerable, underpowered, and up against a range of supernatural beings you can't predict. That's scary!
2. 3v3v3 Teams
Fortunately you don't have to face the terrors of the city alone (although there is the option for single-player too). You can search for clues, solve puzzles, explore the city of Macau, and fight the horror in teams of three... but you may go up against other teams too! Up to nine players can play at once, three teams of three, so you have to worry about the monsters... and each other!
3. Don't Forget the Monsters
Oh yes, never forget the actual creatures of the night. The supernatural beings of Fight the Horror are a mix of traditional enemies, like zombies, and truly nightmarish monsters based on the real myths of Macau - such as a headless horseman, or a floating statue-like lady covered in blood and with extremely long nails. Horror's worse when it's based on something real.
4. No Microtransactions
An important point for an online multiplayer game this: there's no microtransactions of any kind. You buy the game, you get access to all of the game, with nothing locked behind a paywall. You earn credits as you play to allow you to level up your characters, but these credits can only be got by playing the game. There's no easy wins here for people who want to buy their way to an unsatisfying victory.
5. Strategic Gameplay, Not Just Button-Mashing
Even the best multiplayer horror games tend to fall into the same problem of being too simple. This can be a good thing, but now and again you want a game to challenge you - especially when you're working with friends to solve a puzzle. Fight the Horror has evil creatures to face, but in-between doing that you'll be exploring the city streets and trying to solve the puzzles it throws at you.
It can be quite tough, but if you're prepared for a challenge pick up Fight the Horror on Steam. If you want more information on the game, you can head over to the game's website or the official Fight the Horror Twitter feed.
