ATLAS is the upcoming pirate MMO by the creators of ARK: Survival Evolved, and seemingly a direct competitor to the much-touted Sea of Thieves, though as soon as you read about the planned feature list of ATLAS, it becomes clear which of the two projects is more ambitious.
ATLAS Early Access release date had been slated for this week, though the developers have chosen to push their flagship project back by a bit - and only just a bit, mind - for additional spit-and-polish.
Much to our chagrin, ATLAS release date has been postponed for another week while the developers go through the code seeking out critical bugs. While the official announcement doesn't go into much detail on the reasoning behind the pushback, it's not much of a stretch to think that something went haywire in a game as complex as ATLAS.
In case you're not aware, ATLAS is going to give us a singular, 45 000 sq. km globe to set sail across, with no less than 700 unique landmasses to explore. This sort of massive sandbox will support an incredible 40 000 players at any given moment, with virtually every aspect of the game being customisable to the n-th degree. Indeed, the feature list sounds like someone's pulling our leg!
ATLAS is now slated to launch via Steam's Early Access programme on the 19th of December, and you can already reference the game itself on Steam, too. If you're excited about the immense potential of ATLAS, rest assured that you are not alone.
