Fallout 76 now has Nuclear Winter Crates? How do you get them? How do you crack them open? What is it that they award? Thing is, while we might've gotten our hopes up at the prospect of a new batch of cosmetics related to these new Crates, it's not that simple at all.
Though the recent level rewards feed items might seem like a brand new batch of crates, the thing is that they're not something you can actually crack open. Instead, these "crates" are cosmetics themselves. Let us explain!
Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Crates
You know that thing you saw while leveling up since the last Fallout 76 update? The one that looked very much like a crate? Turns out, it's not actually a lootbox, nor is it a crate of any kind. Instead, it's either a player icon, or a skin for your character stash. Disappointing? You tell us.
In any case, these curious new cosmetics have been added with the latest Nuclear Winter update, and merely allow for you to customise some aspects of your profile and character with a few new item skins. Slightly odd, since they definitely look like actual crates/lootboxes, but what can you do.
Since we hate to be the bearers of bad news, we though it'd be nice to cheer you up with some other Fallout 76 coverage. For example, if you're having trouble with the ominous entitlements error, we've got your back. Similarly, if you're on the lookout for latest Nuke codes, we've got just the thing. Happy hunting!
