Activision Blizzard will fire their Chief Financial Officer Spencer Neumann soon, according to reports, and the reason for them doing so is as-of-yet undisclosed. It will, however, fire up a blizzard of theorycrafting on why this is happening.
It's not all grim for Neumann, though, as he's already been poached by Netflix to take up the position of CFO in their offices instead.
The decision to fire CFO Neumann is, if sources are to be believed, not related to the fact that Activision-Blizzard shares have fallen no less than 26% over the course of 2018. This is not an easy thing to believe, but Acti-Blizz say that the firing is "unrelated to the company's financial reporting or disclosure controls and procedures."
Neumann joined Acti-Blizz in 2017 following his employment at Disney, and he will have the chance to argue against the company reasoning for his termination, but come Tuesday, Dennis Durkin, firm's chief corporate officer, will be taking over the position of CFO.
That said, Neumann has apparently already been poached by Netflix for the position of CFO as well, which is sure to have sweetened what must've been a sour end of the year for the man. This leaves us with plenty of opportunity to speculate on what, exactly, brought about Neumann's termination, but there's some writing on the wall already, to be sure.
