After spending a bit over a year in Early Access, roguelite city-builder Against the Storm has now fully launched, kickstarting its post-early access patch notes timeline with the rather chunky Queen’s Hand Trial update.
Although the title had already received plenty of patches throughout its stint in early access, developer Eremite Games has confirmed that “this probably isn’t the last content update for Against the Storm.” Its patch notes timeline is set to continue in the future, but the developer has chosen to not commit to a full roadmap, its post-launch plans adopting a “looser, more free-flowing form.
Against the Storm Patch Notes - Queen's Hand Trial Update
Release Date: December 8, 2023
Against the Storm’s Queen’s Hand Trial update brings the game’s version to 1.0 while introducing the titular hardcore, permadeath mode that tasks us with reforging the Adamantine Seal in one cycle without losing any settlements. Failing or abandoning a settlement, restarting a cycle, or not having enough Seal Fragments, each force you to start your attempt anew.
Upgrades are drawn, similar to buildings or cornerstones instead of being distributed on an upgrade tree, with only a portion of them will be purchasable during a run. In order to unlock the new mode, you’ll need to claim the reward for the Deed tied to reforging the Adamantine Seal at least once.
You can find the full patch notes for Against the Storm’s Queen’s Hand Trial update, which also includes a number of bugfixes, over on Steam.
