Earlier this month, Stray Fawn Publishing and developer The Wandering Band unveiled Airborne Empire as the sequel to their flying city builder Airborne Kingdom.
Much like its predecessor, Airborne Empire revolves around building, managing, and growing a city in the skies while traversing a vast open world.

“New dangers, exotic wonders, and many hidden treasures” await, according to the publisher, while the original’s lift, balance, and propulsion mechanics are set to return.
The sequel introduces pirates as a new threat, tasking us with defending both our people and the kingdoms below from their incursions.
We’ll do so while exploring different biomes and interacting with a variety of characters, choosing between dialogue choices, and completing side-quests.
Helping those below is rewarded with access to new technologies, including some that unlock more lift, propulsion, and morale buildings as well as better tools to use when defending and repelling pirates.
The latter range from defense towers and cannons to attack planes, which should make for some fairly lively skies.
Succeeding for long enough will turn our cities into sprawling flying homes that welcome people tired of life on the ground.
Airborne Empire is slated to enter Steam Early Access in 2024. The developer plans to spend one year or more before fully releasing the title.
Learn more about it on its Steam page and see it in action in the trailer below.
