Alien Marauder is publisher and developer YC Games’ next sci-fi strategy game that looks to explore the cathartic act of building bases and slaughtering massive swarms of bugs whose sole intention is to murder you.
Primed for a 2021 Steam Early Access launch, an Alien Marauder beta test is scheduled to take place later this week. Not only will it give players a chance to see how well they can defend their mining operation against the Vexan, but you can still request access if you haven’t already and need a break from Humankind.
Getting Alien Marauder beta test access is as simple as heading to the game’s Steam page and clicking the green Request Access button. This will automatically enroll you in the beta and pre-load instructions will make their way to you via email.
Set in the year 2672, the title sees humanity racing across the stars, using the heavy ion fusion technology that sparked the fifth industrial revolution to exploit other planets’ resources for their power.
Alien Marauder blends strategy and survival elements, its full version aiming to support two different modes. Survival plops you somewhere on a randomly generated map and tasks you with building your base, collecting the planet’s resources, and recruiting troops to defend against the Vexan.
In Defensive mode, you gain resources by killing Vexans, which now attack in waves. At the end of each wave, you also get a random high-tech chip that you can use to improve your base and troops.
Alien Marauder’s beta test begins on August 19 at 6 PM PT/9 PM PT/3 AM BST.
