A collaboration between Among Us developer Innersloth and Tinkertown (published by Thunderful, developed by Headup) means that a themed update is adding a new quest and location to Tinkertown. An imposter has killed an entire crew and taken over their ship, and has crash landed in the world of Tinkertown, which opens up a whole new area, full of “sus” puzzles and a new quest.
Tinkertown itself is a multiplayer sandbox title that’s in early access, and in this new quest players will have to explore the crashed ship and solve puzzles that are in the way, all while not getting caught by the imposter that’s roaming the ship. It sounds a bit like our sus-friend has become Nemesis in Resident Evil 2!
There are Among Us themed costumes, hats, and decorative items that can be found, which you can then use to decorate your house in Tinkertown back in your village. Tinkertown tasks players with completing quests like this new Among Us crossover, but there’s also crafting, monster battles, and more, and the developer says it will “bring more features on its road to release”.
Will there be an Among Us 2?
There was originally plans to make a sequel to Among Us, but the developer found that the original game has been so succesful that it was cancelled, in favour of creating updates to the core game and making it the best it can be.
Speaking in 2020, developer Innersloth said that cancelling and making the Among Us servers better was “probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it”, and that “seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level. We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1”.
Among Us and Tinkertown are both available now, on PC.
