Returning to its historical roots, Anno 1800 throws players right in the middle of the Industrial Revolution, tasking them with building, expanding and maintaining their cities.
Neither of those can be done without money and, as bankruptcy spells doom for your city building efforts, knowing a bit about Anno 1800 how to make money quick can be quite helpful.
How to Make Money Quick?
Just like in previous entries, your main source of income in Anno 1800 are your tax-paying citizens. There are five population tiers in the Old World and two in the New World, each contributing to your overall wealth. Higher tiers pay higher taxes so, generally speaking, upgrading your citizens as soon as you have the resources to do so, and can maintain their happiness, will help you make money quick in Anno 1800. Just make sure to avoid upgrading every building at once, as you’ll need a balance of all tier types, based on available jobs.
Two more sources of income are visitors, which appreciate a beautiful city, and trade. Trade is rather tricky to follow, as it’s not reflected in the balance pop-up at the top right. Regardless, being aware of what resources other players require and selling any source of surplus can provide healthy money boosts to your city. You can do so either by setting up regular trade routes or by manually loading resources and directing your ships to other ports.
The most noticeable way of how to make money quick in Anno 1800 is by doing quests. Other players will issue them from time to time but you can also ask for a quest from the Diplomacy Screen. Click the middle button below your minimap, select a player, click the Actions button on the left then Ask for Quest. These quests offer a range of objectives, from transporting items from point A to point B, to supplying a set amount of resources or destroying a specific ship. What they all do is provide a hefty boost to your coffers.
