Anthem is the latest game from the open-world masters at BioWare, and usually the one thing they can be counted on is to make a really compelling hub area. However at the start, the Anthem Fort Tarsis hub area is actually really small and disappointing.
Does the Anthem city hub stay like that, or does it get bigger? Can you explore all of Fort Tarsis at some point? If so, when? We've been playing the game, and we've got the answers.
When does the Anthem Fort Tarsis city hub expand?
After a short tutorial mission, you're deposited in Fort Tarsis and can explore it at will. Unfortunately, you'll quickly discover that there are very few places you can actually go. There's your Javelin, a small bazaar with one shop, and a downstairs area - and that's it.
Fortunately, the good news is that after a few missions, Fort Tarsis will massively expand, various obstacles will be removed, and you'll have many more people to talk to.
If we're talking main missions, this hub expansion will happen after the sixth mission - Incursion, where you encounter the Darth Vader-like Monitor of the Dominion for the first time. Complete the mission and you'll be sent to the Launch Bay, the only part of Fort Tarsis where you can interact with other players.
Head out of this and back to the city proper, and you'll discover that many obstacles and doors are now open, so you can freely explore Fort Tarsis and meet the many colourful characters of Anthem. Hooray! Now, if only we could walk a bit faster...
