Apex Legends is, rather obviously, a battle royale game, and it is one of the genre's key defining features that any given match kicks off with the players jumping out of some sort of a flying vehicle as it crosses the map. In Apex Legends, you can do similar jumps during the match, too!
Apex Legends gliding has got a particular trick to it that allows experienced players to cover significant distances from the get-go. The special gliding trick we'll discuss here will extend your start-of-the-match glides by a staggering 500 meters!
How to Glide as Far as Possible in Apex Legends?
Special Apex Legends gliding trick consists of keeping an eye at your speedometer to the left of the glide HUD, and then adjusting your fall trajectory accordingly. It's going to allow you to cross much longer distances faster, thus enabling you to reach loot hotspots that other squads may not be able to get to at all.
The guide is following, and it's rather simple once you get the hang of it:
- drop straight down until your speedometer says 145
- glide until about 125
- drop straight down until your speedometer says 145
- glide until about 125
- repeat as many times as is possible and useful for you to do.
As you can see, it's not exactly rocket science, but it may very well get you an additional edge when it comes to initial scrapes and combat encounters. Interestingly, a modified version of this guide applies to relaunch balloons, too.
How to Use Relaunch Balloons to Glide Very Far in Apex Legends?
Given the gimmicky nature of using relaunch balloons to glide in Apex Legends described in the following lines, it may be worth keeping in mind that it's an exacerbated bug that'll get fixed further down the line. That said, the trick works for now, so why not use it?
Here's how to get some massive distance in glides kickstarted by relaunch balloons:
- find a relaunch balloon and face the direction you wish to travel in
- start climbing up the rope and look directly up, towards the balloon
- launch when you reach the top, and then hit right click (for freelook), look in the direction you designated before, and hold W (forward) all at the same time
- glide further out than you thought you could
This is a tad more complex, as you can see, but what it accomplishes is that instead of just gliding normally, it'll also get you a vertical bump upwards when you get closer to the ground, initiating the hover animation. This will work several times, and allows you just enough time to find more terrain to "bump" off of!
We hope these gliding tricks help you out in playing Apex Legends, and who knows, maybe even give you that slight nudge you needed to win your first match.
