Assassin's Creed Odyssey PC Crash - Why is The PC Version Crashing?
The main reason for a crash right at the beginning of the game, as soon as you start it up, is that your CPU does not support AVX (Advanced Vertex Extensions), which is a fairly common recent CPU enhancement to speed it up - but crucially it is not available in all CPUS, including a number that are supposedly supported in the game's Minimum System Requirements. These CPUs include First Generation older Intel Core i3, i5, i7, Pentium G and some Intel Xeon processors.
So what do you do if your CPU doesn't support AVX, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey keeps crashing on you? Unfortunately there's only one thing you can do: wait. Ubisoft are aware of the issue and are working to get the game working for CPUs without AVX, "within the minimum requirements."
"As this is an ongoing process, we are not able to provide an ETA just yet, but rest assured this is a high priority for us and we will keep you updated on the progress."
