Baldur’s Gate 3 has been out in Early Access for a bit over a week now, giving players enough time to explore its first Act and, apparently, die a lot.
Publisher and developer Larian Studios has put together a Baldur’s Gate 3 death map based on the data received from the tens of thousands of players flocking to the freshly-released cRPG, highlighting the areas where their parties had serious disagreements with life.
One of the standout spots on the Baldur’s Gate 3 death map is the area in which you first meet Gale, one of the five potential companions.

Players seemingly aren’t taking too kindly to being spooked by the charming mage. Then again, he also seems to be four times more prone to wipe out party members than any other NPC.
Disturbing Ogres and Bug Bears while they’re having intimate moments also seems to be a bad idea, leading to no less than 4000 player deaths.
Although it’s not featured on the Baldur’s Gate 3 death map above, the camp is also less safe that it would first appear.
Attempting to tame a Mind Flayer has also lead to 3753 deaths, although that really shouldn’t be any surprise at this point.
Aside from offering a set of fun numbers, Baldur’s Gate 3’s death map also helps Larian figure out areas that may need balancing.
“It might not look like much, but this shows us where to investigate. We can correlate this with direct player feedback, balancing feedback, and even bug reports to find out why people are dying where they’re dying, and also is it normal that people are dying there? It’s just one example of how people are helping simply by playing the game.” it said.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now in Early Access and available on PC, via Steam and Gog.com, alongside Google Stadia.
