Baldur’s Gate 3’s Defiled Temple puzzle is one of the first bumps in the road that players hopping into its Early Access version will encounter.
But, as much as Baldur’s Gate 3 has its fair share of hidden truths and mysteries, its Defiled Temple puzzle has a solution.
If you’ve found the Priestess’ Journal, it gives you a series of hints that can help you figure it out on your own. If, however, you’re more impatient, read on for the BG 3 Defiled Temple puzzle solution, so you can set off exploring other areas of the game quicker.
BG3 Defiled Temple Puzzle Solution
Baldur’s Gate 3’s Defiled Temple puzzle revolves around four interlocking circles that have symbols on their edges depicting different states of the moon.
You can interact with each of the four circles to move the symbols counterclockwise by one position. The tricky bit is that interacting with any circle moves two symbols found on others.
The Defiled Temple puzzle solution requires you to have all four new moon symbols on the bottom circle that has a beam of light falling on it, with all four full moon symbols being on the top circle.
The position of the symbols on the edges of the left and right circles doesn’t seem to matter in solving the puzzle, from what we can tell.
With the beam of light falling on the bottom circle, click them in the following order:

Once you’ve performed the above list of moves, a door in the northern section of the room will open, allowing you to go down to the Selunite Outpost.
Baldur’s Gate III is now available on PC, through both Gog.com and Steam, as well as Google Stadia. Its first hotfix is also on the way, addressing crashes and multiplayer issues.
