Batalj is the Swedish word for 'combat', and has now come in handy as a curious, yet simple name for a game that's trying to make itself known in a burgeoning market. This 1v1 turn-based strategy has got a few tricks up its sleeves, and you may well become one of its beta testers.
Batalj Open Beta is going to provide a great number of players with access to the WIP build of Batalj, have them test out the servers and game's mechanics, and - of course - give us a chance to try the game out for free.
Batalj has you choose one of the three distinct factions, and then build your squad from the various crazy units and heroes they've got access to. It's an asymmetrical sort of balance - in theory - and this beta will serve as a means for the developer to collect feedback on how it all comes together in practice.
What makes Batalj special is the fact that it will have both of the bataljing players take turns simultaneously, providing the game's meta-layer with another knot of complexity for us to fiddle and contend with. It might not be your thing, or you might enjoy it greatly - won't know for sure if you don't give it a shot, and in doing so, you may provide developers with valuable feedback.
Batalj Open Beta key giveaway is now live, and if you look just a bit lower, you'll find a lovely little box where you, too, can type in your email address and request a Batalj beta-access key of your very own. The beta itself is supposed to be live already, so there's no downtime to speak of once you've gained access!
