Ubisoft is working on a multiplayer PvP game named BattleCat that brings together The Division, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon characters, according to a recent leak.
BattleCat is very likely an internal codename used for the project that includes members of Splinter Cell’s Echelon, Ghost Recon’s Wolves, alongside The Division’s Cleaners and Outcasts as playable characters.
Leaker Zer0Bytes0 shared on Twitter, a set of images likely meant for internal use, detailing some of BattleCat’s main features.
Each faction’s members excel at different aspects of combat. Wolves bring additional body armor, while also deploying cover that also protects allies. Outcast characters play closer to a healer class, Echelon members favor surprising their foes and can reveal their position on the minimap, while Cleaners focus on dealing damage, using tools such as napalm turrets.
BattleCat’s characters also seem to have access to stronger ultimate abilities. The Outcasts’ Divine Intervention prevents allies from kicking the bucket for a short amount of time, while the Cleaners’ Purifier lets them roast enemies in an area.
The game reportedly features two modes: Escort and Ringleader. The former sees one team fighting to move a package past multiple checkpoints, while the other team tries to stop them. Ringleader is centered around picking up rings from fallen enemies, then living long enough to deposit them and score points.
Like with all leaks, it’s worth taking this one with a grain of salt. Provided it’s real, BattleCat could prove to be the Tom Clancy mashup that fans of Ubisoft’s military titles have always dreamed of. Earlier this month, The Division Heartland was also announced, as a new free-to-play entry in the series.
The publisher has locked down the date of its next Ubisoft Forward showcase to June 12, at 12 PM PST/8 PM BST. With a bit of luck, we’ll also get our first glimpse at BattleCat alongside the game formerly known as Rainbow Six Quarantine and other reveals.
