Battlefield 2042 is one of the most anticipated games of the year and a first-person shooter that sees the series returning to a modern-day setting after its two recent detours through history. But even with all the hype surrounding it, some players want to know if EA Play or its Pro counterpart grant access to the title without requiring a traditional purchase.
Playing Battlefield 2042 through EA Play lets you pay a considerably smaller price to check if your rig can run the game or if you’re satisfied with its launch state. Below, we’ll clear up how the subscription service and its Pro variant grant access to Battlefield 2042.
To put it simply, yes, you will be able to play Battlefield 2042 through EA Play but the standard version comes with a major caveat that isn’t there if you’re a Pro subscriber.
Essentially, the standard version of EA Play will let you try out Battlefield 2042 for up to 10 hours starting with November 12, which is a whole week before others get access to the game. Once those 10 hours are up, you’ll either have to outright buy the game or upgrade to the better subscription tier.
EA Play Pro grants unlimited access to Battlefield 2042 to all subscribers, also starting with November 12, much like purchasing the game’s Gold or Ultimate editions, just minus having to pay the full upfront price.
While the full version of Battlefield 2042 will not make its way to Xbox Game Pass, you still have the option of playing the 10-hour trial, since EA Play is part of Microsoft’s subscription service.
