Magicave, the UK-based game studio led by former Marvelous Europe boss Harry Holmwood, today unveiled Beneath The Six as its debut title. Playable in both single and multiplayer, the turn-based roguelike “blends exploration and discovery with character progression, magic and combat.”
Beneath The Six sees you collecting and combining dice whose traits determine the appearance and skills of your characters. Using wizard dice bestows strong magic powers, while adding in warrior dice grants strength and weapon proficiency.

In addition to the game’s procedural character and dungeon generation, Magicave has also partnered with ElevenLabs to create an in-game AI narrator based on the voice of actor Tom Canton, who plays Filavandrel, King of the Elves in Netflix’s TV show The Witcher.
“Generative AI opens up gameplay possibilities we’re excited to explore,” said Ste Curran, Magicave’s Creative Director.
“But you can’t explore them without the support of the creatives that make the work possible in the first place. We’ve read stories of actors being forced to sign agreements assigning their AI voice IP to game and tech companies - robbing them of future opportunities and literally taking their voice away. We want to build the future, but we also want a company that aligns with our values, so we’ve come up with a new business model we feel works for everyone.”
Tom Canton will, thus, retain ownership of his AI voice created for Beneath The Six. Magicave is licensing it from him for its debut title, while allowing the actor to use his AI voice in other media, from games to audiobooks and movies.
Beneath The Six is slated to launch on PC in 2024. You can get a brief glimpse of the game in its trailer and join its Discord server to take part in pre-release playtesting later in the year.
