Blizzard Entertainment could announce a new game, currently codenamed Fenway, during BlizzConline later this month. The developer has several confirmed projects in development, including Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, but is bound to also keep some other stuff under wraps.
Aside from knowing that it exists or has existed at some point, Fenway remains shrouded in mystery. Blizzard hasn’t brought the name up yet and its exact nature is anyone’s guess.
As spotted by IGN, Fenway appeared on Blizzard employee Maxine Virtue’s LinkedIn account. Between August 2018 and December 2019 she mentions having worked “on Outsource and insource management for Warcraft 3 Reforged, StarCraft 2, StarCraft: Remastered/Cartooned Edition, Diablo 3 and Fenway, partnered with 10 art studios and 10 freelance artists, for a total budget of $7.5M.”
Mention of Fenway has since been removed from LinkedIn, however, the question remains: what is it and when will Blizzard reveal it? On the one hand, it could be a new, currently unannounced game. It’s also possible that the codename is used for the rumored Diablo 2 Remake.
BlizzConline would be a great moment to reveal a new title, given last year’s lack of a physical convention. At the same time, we can’t entirely exclude the possibility of Fenway being a now-canceled project.
BlizzConline is set to take place between February 19 and February 20. It will be entirely free to watch and, with a bit of luck, we’ll learn more about Fenway when it kicks off.
