With the PTR for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth’s patch 8.1.5 now live, it appears that Blizzard is paying tribute to famous comic book writer Stan Lee, who passed away in November, at the age of 95.
Twitter user BT_Schouten was the first to spot a new NPC named Stanley and resembling the comic book writer patrolling around Stormwind Keep. Wowhead then filmed the NPC’s peaceful patrol. You can watch the video below.
Stan Lee was one of the most prolific comic book writers, having led Marvel to becoming the household name that it is today, as well as co-creating plenty of fictional characters that became big names in popular culture. Some of them are the X-Men, Iron Man, Black Panther, Spider-Man and Daredevil.
World Of Warcraft includes a number of different tributes to both famous figures, such as Farrah Fawcett and Robin Williams, but also players and former Blizzard employees. If you’re wondering who and where they are, check out Wowhead’s list.
World Of Warcraft saw the launch of its seventh expansion pack, Battle For Azeroth, back in August of last year. The expansion shifts the focus back to the conflict between factions, but has been met with rather mixed reactions from players.
