While there doesn’t seem to be a single reason behind the Borderlands GOTY General Protection Fault error appearing, there most certainly is a way to get rid of it. You will, however, have to rummage through the game’s files to do so.
The Borderlands GOTY General Protection Fault error fix requires you to go to your Steam library, right click on Borderlands and then click on Properties. Go to the Local Files tab, then select Browse Local Files. This will open the folder where the game is installed.
From there, open the Binaries folder, find the cudart.dll file and make a copy of it. Simply rename the copy to physxcudart_20 and then launch the game. You should no longer encounter the Borderlands GOTY General Protection Fault error at this point. If issues still appear, try verifying the game’s files after you’ve gone through all the steps.
