During your time with Breathedge, you’ll often find yourself floating across space to stock up on various resources. Your building needs change as you continue aiding the main character, but keeping some spare Alkali around for emergencies can be a rather wise decision.
Alkali is a component of items like alcohol, which comes in handy when you’re navigating particularly cold sections of space. It’s also used when crafting batteries. The latter are required to build Oxygen Candles and, speaking from experience, having a few of the buggers in your inventory at all times can save you from dying and having to reload your game.
Breathedge Alkali Locations
When you’re after Alkali, it’s best to direct your gaze towards Breathedge’s massive space rocks, as they do seem to be the most reliable source. From a distance, you may mistake it for Ice or Aluminum but, up close, its white, round, stalk-like shape and orange ship bits make it stand out.
Extracting Alkali in Breathedge requires that you first equip a Grabber. It is rather unwise to touch with your hands everything around you. Sure, most of the debris around you resulted from your ship blowing up, but one can never be too sure.
While you may have trouble finding lots of it in the first part of the game, that changes once you reach the second chapter. Dedicating a few resource runs to exploring the nearby asteroids tends to yield enough Alkali, even if it still seems to be a bit rarer than Ice and Aluminum.
