Developer R8 Games has announced that, going forward, its anti-gravity combat racer Formula Fusion will be known as Pacer. The title, which aims to channel the essence of titles such as Wipeout, entered Steam Early Access back in 2017.
The name change comes as a complement to a host of new additions planned to go live before the game’s full release later this year. Chief among them is the Pacer Battle Royale Mode, called Storm, which will be playable in both single player and multiplayer, making the title the first arcade racer to jump onto the Battle Royale train.
“The game has changed significantly with a ground up re-coding of the core gameplay systems and inclusion of a wealth of new content. We’ve got some big plans for 2019 and we felt that we needed to reflect that with a name that more accurately captured the spirit of the game.”, said Senior Producer Steve Iles.
Pacer aims to launch with 4K support running at 60FPS. The title will come with 14 different tracks alongside five customizable vehicles. Its other features include a spectator mode with four camera options, as well as a replay mode to capture cool moments.
Pacer’s OST will feature a mixture of original and licensed tracks by names such as CoLD SToRAGE and Dub FX. In terms of modes, players can look forward to both a campaign, as well as online tournament and ranked modes. The title will also have support for in-game VoIP as well as hosted servers. Pacer is set to launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One later in 2019.
