Cozy Grove is out now on PC, offering a life sim experience that’s a bit different from most other titles out there. Taking inspiration from Animal Crossing, its time gated story means you can only progress so much during each day. As much of a deliberate design decision as that is, the more impatient players have been asking about ways to time travel since launch.
We’ll dispel your biggest doubts right now: no, Cozy Grove Time Travel doesn’t involve complex calculations and tracking down parts to build a time machine in your shed. It’s a far less involved process than that, but one that can corrupt your saves if you’re not careful when going about it.
On PC, Cozy Grove Time Travel really only involves moving your system clock forward. Before you get to it, however, double-check that the game is closed. Then, right-click on the time and date in the lower right corner of your screen, then left-click Adjust date/time.
Make sure that the “Set time automatically” setting is turned off, then click the Change button under “Set the date and time option manually” option and move time forward to the next day, after 5 AM. Start the game again and you should have a new batch of quests to complete. Here’s what publisher and developer Spry Fox has to say on the topic of save corruption when using Cozy Grove Time Travel.
“We are totally fine with you time-travelling this way if you choose to (it’s your life!) Just please be aware that we didn’t design the game with that behavior in mind. We think that it should work OK without any problems, as long as you don’t roll back the clock later and load the game again as that can definitely confuse the system and might cause save file corruption.”
“So again: if you’re going to fast-forward your system clock, which we’re A-OK with, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU NEVER TURN THE CLOCK BACK before loading the game or while playing the game. Doing so could corrupt your game in potentially irreversible ways and we will not be able to help you.”
If your save file does get corrupted, the studio will not be able to help, which is why it’s best to keep track of how far you’ve time traveled, should you decide to do so. The blog post linked above also details some of the signs you can look out for to tell if it’s time to start over.
