Ghostrunner looks like a perfect mesh of Mirror’s Edge and Cyberpunk 2077, if its first gameplay and announcement video is anything to go by.
The game’s main selling points include extreme mobility of the protagonist, one-hit-kill gameplay, and - of course - ample use of bullet-time. We cannot yet be sure that Ghostrunner will be faster than Quake was back in the day, but speed is a given.
Ghostrunner will equip its players with a grappling hook and a sword and then let them loose in a tower-city that seems to be quite eager to get rid of them. The gameplay trailer showcases extremely fast parkour that flawlessly incorporates brutal melee combat.
Since the focus is on maintaining speed at any cost, one-hit-kills make perfect sense. In that way, Ghostrunner may end up playing somewhat similarly to Hotline Miami, but with bullet-time as a cherry on top.
As per Ghostrunner’s Steam page, the game is supposed to come out in almost exactly a year - on 6th of August 2020. Without further ado, watch the trailer below.
