Matches in The Cycle: Frontier can last a long time, with the difficulty increasing as time progresses. This isn’t the only thing to worry about though, and one of the biggest challenges to overcome is the storms that periodically ravage the surface.
In this guide, we’ll go through how storms work, how long storms last and include a few tips and tricks to make the most of them.
The Cycle: Frontier - How Do Storms Work
One of the first things to know about storms is that you’ll receive a warning when they are about to appear. These warnings can give you a few minutes to evacuate your character before the storm arrives. This can be important, as the second thing to know is that storms prevent players from entering or leaving the map while they are active.
If you’re confident in your skills, you don’t have to leave, as while storms lock you into the map, they also provide benefits to go with the added danger of sticking around.
The safest way to ride out a storm is to be under cover, where the summoned electricity can’t reach you, but these places will also attract other players, leading to many PvP battles you may not want to fight.
The Cycle Frontier Storm Duration
Other than hiding, players quick on their feet can brave the outdoor, but doing so requires constant awareness of their surroundings. Every 15-25 seconds, a buildup of red electricity will appear directly beneath the player and will cause damage unless they get away from the area quickly enough. Standing in one place during a storm is suicide, so moving is the key to survival.
Whatever method you choose to use to survive the storms, they don’t take long, and most last around 5 minutes, give or take a minute.
One of the main advantages of being out in a storm is a reduction in player count. Between those hiding and those dying, the number of active combatants is reduced, making looting higher-end areas more feasible.
Mobs also spawn with higher quality loot, and some mob types drop special items such as Charged Spinal Bases. Storm-specific resources also appear on the map, like Glowy Brightcap Mushrooms that can be picked and used to create high-tier Combat Stims.
