Dead by Daylight presents its four survivors with very little in the way of defending themselves or running away, with their only long-term option sometimes being to open the ominous Black Lock to survive.
Dead by Daylight Black Locks are special escape rooms that appear on the map when certain conditions are met. Here, we'll tell you precisely what those conditions are, and how to open it.
Dead by Daylight Black Locks
While not a primary method of escape (that would be the actual Exit Gates), the Black Lock is one of the very few "safe" havens for the survivors in Dead by Daylight. This ominous-looking hatch will only be made visible and accessible when a specific condition is met: for there to be at least one more active Generator than there are survivors. Here's the formula:
- 4 Survivors remaining: 5 repaired Generators / Exit Gates are powered
- 3 Survivors remaining: 4 repaired Generators / 1 Generator left
- 2 Survivors remaining: 3 repaired Generators / 2 Generators left
- 1 Survivor remaining: 2 repaired Generators / 3 Generators left
When the Black Lock / Hatch appears, you're going to need to have either the Skeleton Key or the Dull Key in order to get it open, either of which can be attained through a variety of means. Good luck!
