Developer Arkane Studios has made a name for itself thanks to the immersive sim goodness it puts out on a regular basis and Deathloop takes things one step further by adding a time-based twist. The title counts among this year’s major releases, which is why quite a few of us are wondering about whether or not Deathloop will release on Xbox Game Pass in 2021.
Xbox acquiring Bethesda in the latter part of 2020 might make it seem like Deathloop’s arrival on Xbox Game Pass in 2021 is guaranteed, but that’s not actually the case.
Deathloop Xbox Game Pass
The title counts among the first set of announced PlayStation 5 console exclusives, the deal being signed before the acquisition went through. At launch, Deathloop will only be available on PC and PS5, which means that we won’t see it on the console version of Xbox Game Pass.
The fine print at the end of the official gameplay walkthrough trailer from back in June points out that the title will remain a PS5 console exclusive until “at least September 14, 2022,” which is one year after its initial launch.
Deathloop is also not coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC at launch, and it’s unclear whether there’s a chance for that to change for the remainder of 2021. The safest bet is likely to opt for a full purchase, in this case, but that likely won’t be the case with future Bethesda games.
Deathloop’s launch is slated for September 14, 2021, when it arrives on PC and PS5.
