Prismatic Inferno is a special Emblem that was released as part of last week’s launch of Solstice of Heroes, and it pretty much looks like something you’d expect to see in an older Call of Duty game. It’s snazzy, effective, and memorable, and we want it. Can we get it, though?
The quick and easy answer to this question is - no. If you started playing Destiny 2 not too long ago, there is simply no way for you to get Prismatic Inferno. There’s a reason for that, as the Emblem was created to commemorate a very particular event from a while ago.
Players who played Destiny 2 PvP back in 2017 may recall that a certain weapon - the Prometheus Lens - ruled supreme back then. While it did get slightly nerfed following this “micro-event”, as Bungie call it, this Exotic Trace Rifle was one of the best PvP weapons around for a while, and that’s why devs decided to commemorate its destruction of the game’s 2017 meta.
The only way to qualify for the Prismatic Inferno Emblem is for players to have finished a Crucible match between 10 AM PST December 8 and 10 AM PST December 12 - 2017. It was during that time that people got utterly destroyed by Prometheus Lens’ Exotic Perk, the Prismatic Inferno, which prompted Bungie to release the Emblem with the same name two years later.
“While we don’t intend for these chaotic micro-events to happen, it can be an exciting time when things get a little crazy. We hope these emblems bring fond memories of the battlefield,” said Bungie. The recently-nerfed Lord of Wolves also received its meta-memorising Emblem, though it’s not quite as striking as Prismatic Inferno.
All we can say is - embrace the meta in the future. Who knows what Emblem Bungie will make next.
