Bard's Tale 4: Barrows Deep has released without a lot of hype, but that doesn't mean that there's not much to be excited about in playing this game.
With 21 unique classes, a unique take on turn-based combat, hundreds of different quests and puzzles to solve, and more, Bard's Tale 4 is one of Inxile Entertainment's most prolific projects. The game does, however, have some technical issues, though there are plans afoot to tackle that, too.
There are two major updates planned to come out for Bard's Tale 4 in the coming weeks. Patch 1, est. 9/21 will come about featuring performance tweaks and optimisations, a FOV slider, improvements to widescreen support, and various additional fixes relating to the game's actual content.
Patch 2, est. 9/28 will make an attempt at improving load times and further performance optimisations, as well as an update to the game's fullscreen artwork and UI layout, so as to make better use of its widescreen functionality. Localisation improvements are also expected, as well as another batch of tweaks and fixes.
The third update has no concrete release date as of now, but InXile intend to add a Legacy Mode, which will feature grid movement, perma-death, and other similar options to further define your gameplay. Check out Bard's Tale 4: Barrows Deep on Steam if this got you thinking.
