With the new year well underway, the start date of Diablo III’s Darkening of Tristram 2020 event is almost upon us.
The Darkening of Tristram 2020 event is a yearly event in Diablo III that celebrates the ARPG series’ anniversary with a nostalgia-filled trip through a dungeon familiar to veteran players and, of course, some sweet event-specific loot.
Diablo III Darkening of Tristram 2020 Start Date
As in past years, Diablo III’s Darkening of Tristram 2020 event begins with strange cultists roaming around in the game’s Adventure Mode. Players can already find them as of January 1 at 01:00 CET, which enables them to loot clues that lead them to discovering a mysterious portal.
The portal is set to open on January 4 at 01:00 CET, which makes it the closest thing to a start date for Diablo III’s Darkening of Tristram 2020 event.
Once opened, entering the portal thrusts you into a familiar cathedral, presented in “glorious RetroVision™”. From there, you can descend into the depths and face enemies found in the original game as you hack and slash your way towards Diablo himself.
On your way, you’ll also complete various activities that reward you with unique transmogrification effects, achievements, portraits, pets, and other goodies specific to Diablo III’s anniversary event.
The Darkening of Tristram 2020 event is scheduled to last until February 1st at 01:00 CET.
