Diablo 4’s endgame introduces a host of new activities that allow you to further increase your character’s power and refine your build. If you’re looking to replace your old loot and grab valuable crafting materials, you’ll want to keep track of Helltides and keep an eye out for their Mystery Chest locations.
In Diablo 4, Helltides become accessible after completing a priority quest upon the campaign’s completion. They emerge periodically within specified regions on the map. Distinguished by a red icon featuring a sword engulfed in flames, this symbol provides a general indicator of where to search for Mystery Chest locations.

Diablo 4’s Helltides visibly change the region they affect, spawning various monsters that drop a currency called Abberant Cinders.
It is used to open Tortured Gift chests that allow you to target higher-quality gear for specific slots alongside Fiend Rose and Forgotten Soul crafting materials.
Their mystery versions do not target specific slots, are much rarer, but have a higher chance of rewarding you with several unique or legendary items when opened.
Here are all the currently known Diablo 4 Helltide Mystery Chest locations, as discovered by the action-RPG’s Reddit community.
These chests are exclusively available in regions hosting a live Helltide event. Therefore, you’ll need to defeat monsters, gather sufficient Abberant Cinders, and discover the chests within the given time limit, which you can monitor in the upper right corner of your screen.
