Diablo 4’s post-launch content roadmap is fairly ambitious, aiming to deliver quarterly seasons and annual expansions that keep us slaying monsters and chasing powerful loot. The title’s launch issues haven’t derailed Blizzard’s plans as, during BlizzCon 2023, the developer unveiled Vessel of Hatred as the ARPG’s first expansion while sharing details about its release date and content.
When Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred’s release date occurs, we’ll get to explore an area of Sanctuary that wasn’t part of the base game while learning more about at least some key characters from its story and leveling a brand-new class.
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Release Date
When the expansion was announced, Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred’s release date is set to occur at some point in late 2024.

This will, hopefully, give the team working on it enough time to fully develop its features and add as much polish as possible.
Story-wise, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred picks up where the main game left off, with Neyrelle traveling south while carrying the soulstone which acts as Mephisto’s prison.
She is following in the footsteps of a prophet of light in an attempt to figure out a way to deal with the Prime Evil, a task the Horadrim have routinely failed in the past.
New players will have the option of playing through the base game first or jumping straight into Vessel of Hatred, where they’ll learn about the fates of both Mephisto and Neyrelle.
Opting for the latter presents you with a recap of the events leading up to the expansion.
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred sees us exploring the new region of Nahantu which, judging by its announcement trailer, takes us deep into the jungles of Sanctuary.
The region was closed off to the events of the base game, so it will be interesting to see how its inhabitants react to having a Prime Evil among them.
During BlizzCon 2023, the developer mainly shared concept art meant to give us an idea of where it started when building the region, but did also bring up Kurast and Travincal, two names that will likely be familiar to series veterans.
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is also set to introduce a new class that didn’t feature in past entries in the series, although we don’t yet know what it might be.
The title’s expansions were described as opportunities to take “one big cohesive step forward,” so it is likely that we’ll also see new monsters, items, and potentially new permanent systems introduced that increase the ARPG’s complexity while adding new ways to play.
More news about Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is expected to be shared at some point during summer 2024.
