Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Frima Studio today announced that Disciples: Liberation is bringing back the turn-based strategy series from the dead later this year. A small pool of lucky players will get to test the upcoming title as soon as next month, when its closed alpha begins.
Described as a “mature, dark fantasy strategy RPG with turn-based combat,” Disciples: Liberation returns to the land of Nevendaar, which players must, as the title implies, liberate. Its single player campaign spans 80+ hours, promising over 270 quests and five different endings.
Players can choose characters belonging to four different classes and recruit others belonging to different factions as they travel across Nevendaar, uncovering its “its endless secrets, hidden treasures, and bloody past.” You can recruit more than 50 unit types to your armies and make use of both traditional weapons and magic to destroy your opponents.
“Explore a rich overworld and align with a variety of in-world factions: from a human empire tinged by religious extremism to the dark forces of the undead lead by a mad queen. Assemble a team to gather precious resources, sway political standing, and take on brutal beasts in intricate turn-based battles,” reads a blurb on the game’s Steam page.
Disciples: Liberation’s closed alpha test begins on March 3 and runs until April 3. It’s limited to just 200 players and sign-ups are currently live on the official website. The full version currently aims for a Q4 2021 release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4. Check out its announcement trailer.
