The Cosmic Storms DLC for Stellaris will be released on the 10th of September priced at €12.99/$12.99/£10.99. You can find it on Steam.
- Storms will randomly start to spawn a few years after gamestart.
- Each Storm triggers a cooldown until the next natural storm can spawn (adjustable in Game Settings)
- There is a limit to how many storms can spawn naturally in the early, mid and late-game (adjustable in Game Settings)
- Those limits only apply to randomly spawned storms. Storms created by players, by event or mechanic, will always spawn regardless of any other settings
- Upon being spawned, they will have a target system towards which they will move, dissipating upon reaching that goal or timing out
Here’s an overview and features sent to us in a press release:
Cosmic Storms adds and develops cosmic storms, phenomena stronger than civilizations and empires sweeping through the galaxy. To wield the mightiest forces in the universe is to court peril; while some perceive them as dire threats, others grasp them as keys to ascendancy or tools to vanquish their foes.
-
NEW STORMS This expansion adds 8 types of cosmic storms (electric, particle, gravity, magnetic, radiant, stardust, shroud and nexus) that replace the existing space storms, spawning randomly on the map. They travel the galaxy at various speeds, growing and shrinking with time.
-
STORM CHASER ORIGIN The Storm Chasers are an empire made of people that seek to push themselves beyond their own limits. They believe enlightenment is found in engaging with the greatest force the universe has to offer: the cosmic storms.
-
2 PRECURSOR NARRATIVES Discover the stories of the Ancients, vanished masters of the storms: Weather Manipulators and the adAkkaria Convention of Benevolence. The completion of these narratives will unlock a new relic for each.
3 NEW CIVICS
- Astrometeorology
- Storm Devotion
- Environmental Architects
In addition to the core features listed above, the “Cosmic Storms” expansion introduces technologies focused on storm management, along with Galactic Community Resolutions, Anomalies, Arc Sites, and a Weather Forecast Map Mode. It also introduces a new Galactic Weather Control ascension perk, which allows players to generate cosmic storms using science ships.
