Doom Eternal Runes are scattered throughout the singleplayer campaign’s levels, some of their locations being harder to find than others. As you’ll likely want to play around with all nine Rune enhancements, we’ve tracked them down in this here guide.
Here are all the places you need to check for all 9 of Doom Eternal’s Rune locations.
Doom Eternal Exultia Rune Location
Progress through the level until you reach the circular elevator. Drop down and turn to the left – you should see the Rune on the other side of the wall. To get to it, circle around in the opposite direction while avoiding the electricity traps and dispatching the demons. Interact with it (default E) for your first Doom Eternal Rune unlock.
Doom Eternal Cultist Base Rune Location
Progress through the mission until you get the Cultist Key. Pass through the first door it unlocks, then make a left until you reach a broken archway overlooking a chasm. Look for a portion of sticky wall with a jump pad below and to the right.
Use the wall to get to the jump pad, use it to jump, shoot the green button to open up the door and dash through the opening. Once up, smash through the green breakable wall. Progress through and complete the combat section.
After you’ve cleared the area, look for a green punchable button (left picture). Punch it and it should raise a monkey bar. Swing on the monkey bar and land on the platform in front of it, then quickly turn back and swing on the same monkey bar to reach a section of sticky wall. Climb to the top, jump across and you can pick up Doom Eternal’s Cultist Base Rune.
Doom Eternal Doom Hunter Base Rune Location
Progress through the level until after the portion with the floating drones holding up sticky walls. Once in the hallway with the moving structure that drops lava on the ground, bring down swift vengeance upon the demons blocking your way.
Get to the end of the room, climb up the raised platforms at the end (left picture), turn around and hop onto the moving platform with a green light, following the objective marker. Jump through the door ahead and look on the left. Doom Hunter Base Rune should be there.
Doom Eternal Super Gore Nest Rune Locations
The Super Gore Nest is the first level housing two Doom Eternal Runes. For the first one, progress normally until you swing on the monkey bar next to the fleshy maw that repeatedly slams onto the platform with the medkit, reaching an opening above. Drop down into the area with the Buff Totem and kill demons until the four green teleporters appear.
Take all four teleporters, destroy the buff totem and then take the newly uncovered fifth teleporter to the yellow key. Move forward, make a right through the closed spike door that can now be opened, make another right and use the jump pad. You’ll find the first Super Gore Nest Rune location up top.
For the second Super Gore Nest Rune, you’ll need to continue following the main objective until you obtain the red key, then progress through the area with the Mario-like rotating pillars of fire. Grab onto the sticky wall at the end, climb up and look on the left side of the room: the Rune patiently waits for you there.
Doom Eternal ARC Complex Rune Locations
Doom Eternal’s ARC Complex level also houses two Runes. To find the first one, progress towards firing the East Turret, past the point where you climb the sticky wall underneath the airplane wreck.
Climb the tall building until you jump through a window into another building. Look for a hole in the floor and drop down, heading towards the mission objective marker. Before going through the marked door, pick up the first ARC Complex Rune in the burning hallway to the right.
To get to the second Rune, you’ll need to follow the objective marker towards the second turret. Take the elevator down. Use your reflexes to jump over the floor that breaks immediately as you make a right and go through the left door.
Make another right through the hole in the wall and walk forward towards the objective marker. The floor will then break once more. Fall down, jump over the debris on your left side and you’ll find the second ARC Complex Rune location.
Doom Eternal Mars Core Rune Locations
The Mars Core level houses the final two Doom Eternal Rune locations which are also among the easier ones to find. The first Rune is on your path towards the main objective. Progress through the level until you take the first elevator after starting the mission. Once you’ve exited it, go through the door in front of you and, once it opens, you’ll see the first Rune.
For the second Mars Core Rune location, you’ll need to have picked up the BFG-9000. Complete past the Buff Totem encounter, take the elevator up and use the console. Go through the unlocked door on the right. Move forward through the second door and you should see the final Doom Eternal Rune waiting right in front of you.
Doom Eternal is out now on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Google Stadia.
