Dual Universe was, back in 2016, too wishy-washy to work. The incredibly ambitious MMORPG promised virtually every aspect of the real world making an appearance in its virtual one, including but not limited to diplomacy, building, combat, politics, and trade - all of it completely player-driven!
There was much doubt as to how realistic this goal is, but the Dual Universe Alpha Launch is now here to assuage those thoughts, offering the very core of Dual Universe to those who want to give it a shot.
Dual Universe is the very first game that presets the players with a completely, fully-editable universe, going so far as to offer in-game visual script and LUA modding, aside from your usual voxel-related fun and games.
As the development roadmap featured above will attest, Dual Universe Alpha 1 features three of the core components of gameplay, short of combat, and the starting playable area is close in size to Great Britain. Game's population is intended to grow to about 11 000 players - all running on the same MMO shard - before the end of the year. The scope, mind you, will grow immensely in the future.
As it stands, the first alpha of Dual Universe allows you to terraform the starting area, create new bases, vehicles, and buildings through voxel tech, explore and harvest resources from the area, and produce interactive components for crafting complex objects. If this sort of stuff excites you even without the additional fluff, then be sure to look into Dual Universe.
