Jade Empire is not a game we hear much about, let alone hearing about a potential remake or - god forbid - a brand new game in the (non-existent) series. Now, out of the blue, Electronic Arts has trademarked the 'Jade Empire' title after all.
New Jade Empire game wouldn't be something we'd necessarily be guessing at, had something similar not happened with Apex Legends - a Titanfall Battle Royale originally trademarked back in October. Supposedly, it's coming out today.
The trademark listing in question has popped up on Justia, and interestingly enough, just underneath it is the 'Project Apex' trademark as well, pointing towards the notion that EA is gearing up for something Jade Empire-related, and fast.
It is definitely worth noting what was the talent behind the original Jade Empire: developed by Bioware, this action RPG was originally published by 2K Games on PC in 2007, two years following its initial release as an Xbox exclusive.
Jade Empire is an ARPG set in a universe inspired by Chinese mythology, giving the game a unique setting and atmosphere: it was a decidedly different sort of experience back in the day, in regard to this. Now, we do not know if Bioware will be working on a new Jade Empire, but it does make sense that they'd jump on something new following the release of Anthem.
We'll see!
