Elden Ring’s character creation screen will undoubtedly be a key part of the entire experience for both new players and series veterans who might have missed it while fighting as Sekiro in the developer’s previous outing.
In many ways, Elden Ring’s character creation screen is your first major quest, as it’s very possible that it will define the look and starting stats of your character. FromSoftware has put a fair share of effort into the feature in Dark Souls and it appears that its latest iteration treads familiar ground.
That’s, at least, what a leaked video from a user who managed to sneak their way into a work-in-progress build suggests. Its main caveat is that most of the text is blurred, but that still gives us an idea of how in-depth its customization is.
Elden Ring will seemingly feature ten starting classes that, like in Dark Souls, determine a character’s initial stats, level, and items. Another choice echoes the starting gifts, letting you pick between multiple items, before you dabble in customizing your character’s appearance.
Elden Ring’s character creation screen shows a clear improvement in terms of character models and comes with quite a few options for body type, hairstyles, and sliders to morph individual features to your liking.
Most importantly, you will be able to take on dragons the size of skyscrapers as an orange-colored Tarnished with a horribly misshapen face.
As this is likely taken from a work-in-progress build of Elden Ring’s character creation screen, there may be differences between what’s in the video and the final version we’ll get our hands-on when the game launches next month.
Nevertheless, it is a promising first look at the feature. For more on the game, here’s what we know about co-op and its map.
Elden Ring launches on PC and consoles on February 25. You can grab it from Fanatical, for the discounted price of £41.99/€50.39 or your regional equivalent, as well as other major storefronts.
